No man has ever climbed the success ladder through procrastination. Success comes with perseverance and responsible behavior. It requires hard-work and commitment, and it cannot be attained easily. If it were, everybody would be successful, wouldn’t they?

Of course, this is not only advice for business owners – it is for everybody who wishes increased productivity and better outcomes.

Here are some tips on how to overcome procrastination and work effectively! We hope it helps.

Do Not Multitask

Even though people think multitasking is a good idea, it is certainly a myth. Think about it! If you concentrate on multiple activities at once, are you going to do any of those well enough? There’s a big chance you won’t. Instead of increasing your productivity, you are going to waste important energy trying to cover as much as possible – and that might bring in a desire for quantity rather than quality.

Take tasks step by step and use your time wisely. Start with project Y and work on it until you finish it. Then take project Z, and work on it until the end. Focus on each assignment separately. There is no point in multitasking anymore!

Stick to a Routine

Many people work productively when they stick to a certain routine. Routine comes with discipline and persuasiveness, which are great qualities to have in any work field. Write down a schedule for each week and try to stick to it as much as possible. Here is one example of a productive schedule:

  • Wake up
  • Exercise
  • Shower
  • Meditate
  • Drink coffee
  • Go to work
  • Focus on specific tasks – start from bigger to smaller
  • Come home, relax
  • Have time for yourself

Of course, your list will probably differ from mine, but the point that I am trying to make is: leave time for yourself and your own pleasures and keep a structured schedule. If you like reading instead of meditating in the morning, wake up 10 minutes before the usual time and read! If we don’t have enough time for ourselves, we lose all of our inspiration and develop frustrations. You come first, always!

Prioritize

Now that you’ve made time for yourself, it is time to prioritize your tasks! It is important to know which assignment comes first, and why. Start with tasks whose deadlines are closer to the present – eliminate those first. That will give you time to breathe and relax before beginning to work on the next task. Make sure you stay organized and structured. Set goals and prioritize them!

Don’t Be Afraid to Fail

When you have nothing to lose, you can win the race. It’s that simple! Face your fears and transform them into constructive motivation. Look at the silver lining, the bright side of the picture, when you feel like fear is coming over you. Then ask yourself:

  • Am I the person I say I am? If so, am I a fearful person?
  • Am I a winner?
  • Can I conquer my fears and prove to myself that I can?
  • Why?

Make it Fun

Taking things too seriously can be damaging. You become uptight and boring, and nobody likes such a character. What’s the best time following any activity? Reflection time! Reflect on your progress and write down your accomplishments. Find your weak spots and constantly work on improving them. Meditate on the work that you are performing, and find 3 things that you like about it each month. There should be 36 by the end of the year! If you can’t find more than 18, quit. You should do what makes you happy.

Procrastinate

We just said we want to avoid procrastination, and now we recommend it. What kind of sorcery is this? Well, you got it wrong. When I say procrastination, I mean relaxation. Don’t be too hard on yourself. If you really don’t find the desire to complete a task one time, understand yourself. Maybe you are tired, or maybe you just need a break. Reflecting helps to figure these things out, so make sure you stick to that.
